For those who have played lacrosse before, you know the importance of a good grip. Lacrosse balls are used in many different ways in the game, and having one that feels right can be essential to success. It is common for lacrosse balls to become slick after extended periods of use or exposure to heat or sunlight. Luckily, there are some easy steps you can take to get your ball feeling like new again!
The first step is to get your lacrosse ball wet. The best method for this is by using a bucket of water and dipping the ball in it until it becomes soaked through. Make sure that you completely saturate every part of the ball with moisture before moving on. You may need to do this more than once depending on how worn down your lacrosse balls are, but make sure that they’re fully saturated each time to ensure better results!
Next, take some dishwashing soap and rub all over the outside of your lacrosse ball. Be careful not to let any liquid seep into the seams around the inside or else you will have trouble getting them out later when dried! Use as much soap as needed and rinse the ball for 30 minutes so that it is cleaned properly but make sure that you are using cold water for that.
Use a towel to dry the ball off or keep them in a dry place. BUT never place a lacrosse ball under direct sunlight because the UV rays of the sun is not very kind to lacrosse ball and it can get really slippery. In the next stage, you will have to use either 70 percent isopropyl alcohol or athletic equipment disinfectant wipes to get rid of any impurities from the outer layer of the ball.
