If you are an attacking lacrosse player, you know it already how difficult it is to pass the ball through the defense to your teammates. It seems like an impossible feat. Of course, passing the lacrosse ball to your teammate while you are being surrounded by defenders is not an easy task. But it’s not impossible either! You just need to know the right technique to beat the defenders. Off all the techniques, the sidearm pass is the most effective one in this situation.

The objective of a Sidearm pass is to pass the ball to a player who is aiming for the goal. The defenders will be trying to block your view and prevent you from making an accurate pass. They will mirror your moves in order to block you and the only way to do that is by faking a high pass and then quickly drop the lacrosse stick to the side to make a low pass. Ideally, the pass should not be made over the hip of the defender, but it should be made under the hip of the defender in order to make it more difficult for him/her to block.

You can use this Sidearm Pass anywhere in the field you want but it works best for shorter passes. Use both hands while making the pass for more accuracy. You can even use a lacrosse rebounder to practice this technique.

The main drawback of sidearm pass is that it is not that much accurate. So that means, other team members will have to work extra hard to make up for this unforced error. However, with practice, you can overcome this disadvantage and make an amazing sidearm pass!
