Boston College’s Unforgettable Comeback

Have you heard the news? Boston College Women’s Lacrosse pulled off a jaw-dropping upset against #1 Syracuse on Thursday night, spoiling their perfect season and snatching the ACC regular season title from right under their noses!

A Rocky Start for the Eagles

At first, it seemed like Syracuse was going to steamroll the Eagles. After BC scored the opening goal, the Orange quickly fired back with six consecutive goals, taking a commanding lead that they held for most of the game. But BC didn’t let that get them down, as Jenn Medjid and her teammates fought back to narrow the gap before halftime.

An Epic Comeback

Despite being six goals behind just 30 seconds into the second half, the Eagles refused to give up. They started dominating draw controls and displaying some top-notch passing skills on the perimeter. Their goalie, Shea Dulce, also came through with some crucial saves, helping BC gain momentum in the 4th quarter. In an incredible turn of events, they scored 7 out of the 9 total goals in the 4th quarter.

The Final Blow

Mckenna Davis delivered the final nail in Syracuse’s coffin, scoring the game-winning goal with just 1:21 remaining. BC held onto the ball until the final whistle, crushing Syracuse’s dreams of a perfect season. Mckenna Davis was undoubtedly the hero of the day, scoring four goals, including the game-winner.

Looking Ahead

This victory not only earned Boston College their 9th ACC win but also secured the ACC’s 1-seed due to the head-to-head tiebreaker. This win puts them in a better position for the ACC tournament, allowing them to bypass major rivals like UNC and face teams like Notre Dame or Virginia, both of which they’ve already defeated.

UNC has historically been a thorn in BC’s side, but let’s not forget the Eagles’ thrilling victory against them in the 2021 Final Four, which led to the program’s first-ever national title.

Mark Your Calendars

The ACC regular season champion Eagles will kick off their tournament journey on Wednesday, April 26th. Can they keep up the momentum and bring home another title? We’ll have to wait and see!
